Scotland rugby assistant coach Danny Wilson will become boss of the Glasgow Warriors at the end of the season. Wilson will take up the role at the end of the current season.
Wilson comes in just less than a day after current boss Dave Rennie was appointed the new boss of Australia. Michael Cheika called it a day after the World Cup with the Wallabies.
Wilson is currently the coach of the Scotland forwards under Gregor Townsend. However, the Warriors have acted promptly to secure his name as the news boss. The 43 year old has been ever present since August 2018 with the national side. He has plenty of coaching experience though. He was head coach at the Cardiff Blues for three seasons. The Welsh outfit went on to claim a Challenge Cup under his stewardship.
Previous management jobs
Wilson also held roles at the Scarlets and the Dragons. He has plenty of experience and will expect the Warriors side to keep to high standards. He also has coached the Wales U20 side.
Wilson looks forward to Glasgow job
Danny Wilson will take up the role as new Glasgow boss at the end of the season. He said, “The opportunity to coach such an attractive club as Glasgow Warriors was too good to miss. Wilson will continue his role with the Scotland national side. This will be until the end of the Six Nations 2020. He will expecting his Glasgow side to make the Pro 14 semi-final at least.
