Ireland squad for World Cup warm against Italy – Kick off 2pm Saturday

The look of the starting team that will play Italy on Saturday is not much clearer but we know that two players have been dropped.
Ultan Dillane and Rory Scannell have been sent back to Connacht and Munster respectively and will not be part of the training squad in Maynooth this week.
Jacob Stockdale is really looking forward to the week ahead and knows everyone will be going 100% to try and get a starting jersey.

“There is that worry of injury going into a World Cup warm-up game when realistically you are looking ahead to that World Cup and saying I want to make sure I’m there, but at the same time it’s your last opportunity to make sure you are playing your best rugby going into the World Cup.

“I don’t think anybody is going to be trotting around at 50%, they are going to be giving it everything they have.I have no doubt that the coaches and the medical staff will make sure that they look after us enough that we can go out and put in a 100% performance in those warm-up games.”

To date the squad has completed two training weeks at Carton House, a week at Connacht Rugby’s base in Galway, a week in UL at Munster’s training base and week at the IRFU’s new High Performance Centre in west Dublin along with two regeneration weeks in between.

Ireland play the first of their two Guinness Summer Series Test matches against Conor O’Shea’s Italy at the Aviva Stadium this coming Saturday at 2.00pm.
