Leinster Rugby have confirmed two pre-season friendlies ahead of the 2018/2019 season.
First up for Leo Cullen’s men will be a trip to France to take on US Montauban. This game is due to be played on Friday the 10th of August in the Stade Sapiac with an 8.30pm kick off time. Montauban played in Division 2 in the French league last season and indeed finished second to Grenoble at the semi-final stages.
In the second of the pre-season friendlies, Leinster will play their first home game of the season at the newly named Energia Park, this game will see the Blues welcome Aviva Premiership side Newcastle Falcons on Friday the 17th of August with a kick off time to be clarified. Newcastle enjoyed a superb season last year in the English Premiership where they achieved fourth position in the table and in turn qualified for the Champions Cup this season.
In last years pre-season games Leo Cullen opted to give youth their chance for the first time in games against French side Perpignan, Gloucester and Bath, some of these players included two Irish stars James Ryan and Jordan Larmour, while Will Connors, Conor O’Brien, Jim O’Brien, Vakh Abdaladze, Ronan Kelleher, Josh Murphy and Caelan Doris all seen game time.
They promise to be cracking encounters and Leo Cullen will be looking for some more players to come through in those games to add to his match day squads in the PRO 14 and Champions Cup games this season.
