Match Official for Ireland v England stabbed after match at the weekend

In shocking news the TMO who was due to officiate in the Ireland v England rugby match was stabbed on Sunday after working on the Blues’  Stormers  Super Rugby encounter.

Shaun Veldsman, who is on the South African Rugby Union’s TMO panel, is recovering in the  intensive care unit of the Stellenbosch Medi Cliniin hospital after being assaulted following the game at Newlands in Cape Town.

He was in his car when the attack started and was stabbed in the lung  according to  South African site Netwerk24 reports. He is was in a stable condition in hospital and its hoped he will make a full recovery.

Veldsman had been scheduled to officiate  at Ireland’s Six Nations match against England in Dublin but will now miss the match.
