O’Donnell to have scan on ankle

Munster’s Tommy O’Donnell will have to undergo a scan today (Monday) to determine the seriousness of his injury in which he was forced off the field in the win over Gloucester at Thomond Park. However there is some good news for the province with news that Keith Earls may be returning.

O’Neill was stretchered off on Saturday in his sides convincing 36-22 win at Thomond Park. However, it was feared that O’Donnell had broke his leg but that has since been ruled out and it now appears it was an ankle injury. O’Donnells replacement that day Arno Botha also suffered an injury to his hand he is also set to undergo a scan on Monday. Rhys Marshall who scored a try in the win over Gloucester also limped out of the game, while Dan Goggin also had to be taken off due to injury  Marshall suffered a hamstring injury and he is set to have a scan on Monday, while Goggin went off with a suspected knee injury. He is due to see a specialist regarding the injury on Tuesday.

The afore mentioned Keith Earls is expected to return to training this week having missed the game against the Gallagher Premiership side with a hamstring injury. He could play a part in Munster’s upcoming Guinness Pro 14 game with the Glasgow Warriors on Saturday evening at Thomond Park kick off 5.15pm. Niall Scannell injured his ankle in training last week and is currently been assessed by the medical team, also been assessed is Jaco Taute for bruising on the knee. It is unlikely these players will feature in the Pro 14 game on Saturday.
