Ulster are seeking their 50th Heineken Cup win this Friday when they face Northampton Saints at Franklin’s Gardens. (Kick off 8.00 pm)
Mark Anscombe is able to recall Ruan Pienaar, Chris Henry and Paddy Wallace to his 27 man preliminary squad as they gear up for a top of the table clash with their English counterparts.
New Zealanders Jared Payne and Nick Williams are also named in the squad after being rested for Sunday’s victory over Scarlets in Wales.
Hooker Nigel Brady, development prop Ricky Lutton and outside back Michael Allen are also added to the squad to enhance the Ulster management team’s selection options.
However, Lions flanker Stephen Ferris, Lewis Stevenson, Declan Fitzpatrick and Adam Macklin remain unavailable through injury.
Ulster go into this clash with nine points from the opening two rounds of the competition, three more than the 2000 Heineken Cup winners. A win on Friday would leave Ulster in a very strong position facing into the return fixture at Ravenhill next week.
