Wales have named their side to take on France on Friday evening at the Stade De France in their opening match of the 2019 Six Nations.
Warren Garland’s charges will once again be captained by the inspirational Alun Wyn Jones who is just 1 appearance away from 50 in the tournament alone. The front row will see Rob Evans, Ken Owens at hooker and Tom Francis at number 3 as prop. Owens incidentally becomes Wales’ most capped hooker on Friday with 61 caps . In the second row will see Adam Beard partner Alun Wyn Jones . In the back row, Josh Navidi returns from injury alongside British and Irish lion pair Justin Tipuric and Ross Moriarty.
Tomos Williams will make his first Six Nations appearance for Wales at scrum half lining up alongside his club mate Gareth Anscombe at fly half. In midfield Hadleigh Parks pairs up with his Scarlets team mate Johnathan Davies. Josh Adams and George North start on the wings for the Welsh Dragons, while at full back Liam Williams starts. On the bench Wales have quality, with the likes of Gareth Davies and of course Dan Biggest .Samson Lee also brings experience from the bench.
Wales who finished second last year th behind Ireland in the tournament face France on Friday, before they travel to Rome to play a week later. Wales have won their last nine games and a big performance will be needed here to make 10.
Gatland speaking ahead of the game said “We are looking forward to kicking off the Six Nations and kicking off our 2019 campaign as a whole”. He said further “We come into the game on an impressive run of results but we know how tough it will be to face France in Paris in the tournament opener”. The current odds for the game have both sides at even money which shows how tight this game will be.
