Arsenal v Southampton: Preview, Teams and Betting

Arsenal and Southampton meet on Saturday at 3pm at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal v Southampton should be a good game with both sides looking to play football. We have a preview, teams and betting information below.

Preview

This is potentially a big game for Unai Emery who could find himself in trouble if his lose this one. Arsenal have failed to win any of their last four games and a loss here would certainly heap the pressure on Emery. Arsenal’s last fixture resulted a 2-0 loss to Leicester. Southampton are in a worse position than the hosts. They have lost their last three games. One of those was 9-0 thumping at home to Manchester City. They are winless in the last seven. Something will have to give here for sure.

Arsenal won the last meeting between the sides 2-0 in February at the same venue. Southampton won in December 2018 in a high scoring contest 3-2. Overall Arsenal have 10 wins to the Saints’ 6 in head to head battles.

Probable Teams/Team News

The coaches have yet to announce their sides for games and these will be announced closer to kick-off. However, we have so team news below.

Arsenal could be without Dani Ceballos for this game. He has a thigh injury. Otherwise, Unai Emery has a full squad of players to pick from. Mesut Ozil could be given a start in a team that will include new captain Aubameyang.

Probable Team: Leno; Chambers, Luiz, Holding; Bellerin, Torreira, Guendouzi, Kolasinac; Ozil; Lacazette, Aubameyang.

Ireland international Michael Obafemi is the only really injury concern for Southampton. Other than that Hasenhuttl has a full squad to choose from. Their line up rarely changes so I will stick with something similar.

Probable Team: McCarthy; Cedric, Bednarek, Stephens, Vestergaard, Bertrand; Ward-Prowse, Romeu, Højbjerg; Ings, Redmond.

Betting

Arsenal are strong favourites in the market at odds of 4/9. In contrast, Southampton are massive outsider at 11/2. The draw is 7/2. I expect The Gunners to win this but past games between the sides show that Arsenal do concede. Aubameyang to score the first goal at 13/5 looks a good bet. Southampton v Arsenal is live on BT Sport.
