Premier League : Everton v Manchester United Preview, betting, and probable starting teams. Both sides looking to bounce back from poor performances.
Everton Team News
Everton make six changes from the side that lost 2-1 against Newcastle last time out.
Jordan Pickford returns in goal and playmaker James Rodriguez is back in the side after injury, with Seamus Coleman, Mason Holgate, Lucas Digne and Bernard also coming in.
Robin Olsen, Jonjoe Kenny, Yerry Mina, Niels Nkounkou, Fabian Delph and Andre Gomes drop out.
Everton XI: Pickford, Coleman, Holgate, Keane, Digne, Doucoure, Allan, Bernard, Sigurdsson, Rodriguez, Calvert-Lewin.
End Of Good Run ?
The toffies have an immaculate starting eleven but lack any real depth to bring on in place of them. It was only a matter of time before the Merseyside team began to slump when problems arose.
Suspensions and injuries to key players have left Everton vulnerable at the back and lacking creativity in attack.Players of real quality such as Digne, Coleman, Rodriguez and Richarlison are currently out.
Everton’s shining light this season has been without a doubt Dominic Calvert Lewin. The striker looks reborn under Ancelotti scoring 8 goals in seven games. The 23 year old was handed his first international call up against Wales for his hard work, scoring on his debut.
Everton are likely to line out in their usual formation of a 4-3-3 with some key players returning.Lucas Digne will be returning from suspension whilst Rodriguez has recovered from his injury sustained against Liverpool.
Manchester United Team News
Manchester United make four changes to the side that suffered an embarrassing Champions League loss at Istanbul Basaksehir in midweek.
Birthday boy David de Gea, who turns 30 today, returns in goal while VIctor Lindelof, Scott McTominay and Fred also come into the team.
Dean Henderson, Axel Tuanzebe, Donny van de Beek and Nemanja Matic come out.
Man Utd XI: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw, McTominay, Fred, Mata, Fernandes, Rashford, Martial.
Solsjaer Out ?
Reports are speculating that if Manchester United don’t beat Everton this weekend Solskjear will be sacked. Speculation suggests a replacement will be sought out during the International break.Utd’s main problem at the moment is that they are struggling to find their best eleven.
They have rotated the team so much experimenting with multiple formations and have found nothing consistent.
Van De Beek Troubles Persist
Ole’s problems have not been made easier with the signing of Donny Van De Beek over summer. The Dutchman was bough in the transfer market last minute for 35 million from Ajax.
This is mainly because he is extremely similar player to that of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba. This remains a difficult task for Solksjaer to fit all three in his starting eleven and maintain a good balance.
Van De Beek so far has been limited to just 60 minutes of Premier League action. He has spent more of his time in the stands or on the bench then playing. Many pundits questioned why he was bought at all instead of strengthening the weak areas of the pitch.
Utd have clearly been crying out for a center back or a defensive midfielder which is desperately needed.United will be predicted to line out in a 4-2-3-1 formation that has served them well for most of last season.
The formation gives them far more defensive solidity with the ability to counter quickly.A defensive shape such as this one is what United need if they’ll have any hope of getting a result at the weekend.
Predicted Result: Everton 2 – 0 Manchester United
I predict a hard fought match, but ultimately an Everton win. Manchester United will no doubt go out in a defensive formation and look to get goals on the counterattack. The pace of Rashford and the returning Martial will be a huge threat going forward.
Fernandes and Pogba will try and dictate the play by playing the integrate and cutthroat passing that they are capable of. However, I feel United will go out like they have in previous games with no real clear tactics appearing to play off the cuff.
Everton under Ancelotti will be much more organised in both defense and attack. This will ultimately catch United out if they are caught in possession. The Toffie’s devastating front three of Richarlison, Rodriguez and Calvert Lewin will slice through the isolated defense.
I predict a tough win for Everton in what will be a good physical battle and an entertaining watch.
