Irish league of Ireland side Shamrock Rovers will host Celtic at Tallaght Stadium in July in preparation for their UEFA Champions League Qualification the Dublin club have announced on Monday morning.
Shamrock Rovers played the Scottish Giants last year when they slumped to a 9-0 defeat at the same venue also in a friendly game. This game was provided by Casino Guardian, The news of the game come a day after Rover’s player Graham Burke made his international debut against Celtic at Celtic Park. The game is down for decision on Saturday the 7th of July with a 3pm kick off. Rover’s will have a busy 24 hours though as they are scheduled in to play Cork City at Turners Cross on the 6th of July also in a friendly game.
Rovers are currently mid table in the league of Ireland premier division and sit in 6th place on 23 points, 17 points off leaders off Dundalk. The game against Celtic just shows the connection with Celtic Football club and Irish teams once again. It promises to be a thrilling encounter with both sides set to have several high-profile players starting the game as they make bids to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Celtic won the double again this year beating Rangers to the title yet again. There have been talks that Celtic and Rangers should move to the English Championship but quite honestly I cant see that happening anytime soon.
