Arsenal are being linked with a move for out of favour Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko in the summer.

The Gunners are set to embark on a £70million transfer spree and reports from various media sources suggest that Dzeko is top of Arsene Wenger’s shopping list.

It would be a welcome change for Arsenal fans in the sense that they would be buying a Manchester City player rather than selling on their top stars to the club. Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy, Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure have swapped North London for Manchester in recent years.

In fact Arsenal are a selling club if you look at their current trends, so buying players this summer is an absolute must as they look set to miss out on Champions League football.

Manchester City striker Dzeko, has been brilliant for City this season when he plays. He has shown plenty of positives but Roberto Mancini refuses to start the Bosnian, instead preferring a Tevez-Aguero partnership.

Dzeko would do a fantastic job for Arsenal if he does sign for the Gunners. Olivier Giroud has failed to make the impression he was meant to in North London and with a distinct lack of attacking options available at the Emirates £70million may not be enough.

The Bosnian striker was expected to leave City in the summer regardless of Arsenal interest. His favoured destination is thought to be Germany, but if Arsenal make an offer it would be hard to resist guaranteed first team football.

  1. Dzeko is a quality player and would be a great signing… However, that’s all that needs saying, your lazy inaccurate slating of Giroud, who has scored similar amount is uncalled for… Arsenal have needed another top striker, regardless of any false shortcomings of OG.
