There was drama in the Champions league this evening as Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng scored a stunning last-minute winner to deny Manchester City a point in their opening Champions League group game.
Former City defender Boateng lashed a fierce shot across Joe Hart after the visitors had failed to clear a corner.
Hart had earlier kept City in the match with a string of saves from Thomas Muller, Mario Gotze and Boateng.
City’s best chance arrived in stoppage-time when Sergio Aguero beat Dante to the ball but poked narrowly wide.

“Bayern Munich do deserve it because Joe Hart has made about six superb saves but you feel for City because they held out for so long.”
Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart on Sky Sports: “We fought hard all night against a good team you know what you get when you come.
“A here nasty deflection at the end has done us and Jerome Boateng comes back to haunt us. It would have been well deserved draw, we made them work hard for everything. I tend to be busy against German teams.
“We can match Bayern Munich, we have some very tough games now and we have to play well against CSKA and Roma now. We’re confident we can win the rest of our games.
“Roma won 5-1? Wow. As long as Ashley Cole didn’t get one…
