Reports from Germany suggest that Bayern Munich are serious about attempting to sign Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov from Manchester United.
With Ivica Olic set to leave the club in the next few weeks, the Germans are anxious to tie up a replacement as soon as possible, and view the out of favour United frontman as the perfect choice. However, the side will not get the striker for free, as there is a clause in his contract, and Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to activate that clause, thus securing the player for a further twelve months.
While he is unlikely to see much game time at Old Trafford this season, the club feel that he is still worth a great deal of money and if he is still on their books they will be able to sell for a large fee.
Although the striker has made just four starts this season, and five substitute appearances, he has still managed six goals and remains one of the most dangerous frontmen in the Premiership.
