Graham Burke is set to join championship side Preston North End from Shamrock Rovers in the next few weeks according to RTE Sport.
They report that Burke who was recently capped by Martin O’Neill for Ireland will put pen to paper for a move to Deepdale next month. Burke has had a good few weeks and made two starts for the Republic of Ireland last week, coming in for his debut against France in the Stade De France and then making his first international start against the USA last Saturday at the Aviva Stadium. Burke indeed grabbed a goal in that game to tie up the scores before Alan Judge netted the winner in the last few minutes or play.
Burke is currently in his second year at Shamrock Rovers and has already scored 10 goals this season for the Hoops. If the move does go ahead as planned he will join fellow Irish players Seanie Maguire, Darryl Horgan, Greg Cunningham, Alan Browne, Kevin O’Connor, Adam O’Reilly and Andy Boyle, Callum Robinson who is also a future Irish international is also at the club. Currently Robinson is awaiting international clearance to play for Martin O’Neill.
This again shows the association with Irish players and Preston North End. Both parties obviously work well together and we can see that relationship extending even more in the coming years with more Irish talent coming through.
