Kenny names Masteron and Parrott in U21 Ireland Squad

Ireland U21 Football Manager Stephen Kenny has named his first squad as boss of the national side. The former Dundalk manager has named Troy Parrott who plays with Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool defender Conor Masterson in the 23 man squad which will play Luxembourg in the sides upcoming European Qualification meeting.

Stephen Kenny has also included Caoimhin Kelleher who plays in goal for Liverpool, while he has also included Lee O’Connor (Man United) and Gavin Bazanu (Man City) in the squad. Kenny has included 8 league of Ireland players in the squad, Bohemians pair Darragh Leahy and Dan Mandroiu , UCD duo Neill Farrugia and Neill Scales, while Zach Elbouzebi and Aaron Drinan of Waterford are also included. Trevor Clarke from Shamrock Rovers and Jamie Lennon of St Patrick’s Athletic are also in the squad.

There are two other players that play in Holland and Slovakia that are also named, both of these players are currently on loan from their respective clubs in England.  Simon Power plays with FC Dordrecht but he is on loan there for Norwich City, he is selected in the squad. Connor Ronan plays with Slovakian side FC Dac 1994 on loan from Wolves.

Midfielders: Jayson Molumby (Brighton and Hove Albion), Jake Doyle Hayes (Cambridge United, on loan from Aston Villa), Connor Ronan (FC DAC 1904, on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers), Jamie Lennon (St. Patrick’s Athletic), Conor Coventry (West Ham United), Dan Mandroiu (Bohemians).

Attackers: Adam Idah (Norwich City), Troy Parrott (Tottenham Hotspur), Neil Farrugia (UCD AFC), Zach Elbouzedi (Waterford), Michael O’Connor (Linfield), Simon Power (FC Dordrecht, on loan from Norwich City), Aaron Drinan (Waterford, on loan from Ipswich Town).
