It’s no longer a question of whether AC Milan should buy new players come next January or not; because as it is even the club’s manager Gennaro Gattuso believes his squad needs at least 3-4 new players joining them in the half season transfer window.
The question, however, is, which player would be coming in? The market is buzzing with several AC Milan transfer news. The fans are itching to see decent players joining their team; there’s a high expectation, and it isn’t out of place to find that everyone has a secret wish list of players they hope their club could pursue.
But, considering how far the club has fared this season, here are possible players on Milan’s January transfer wish list.
The Centre Back Position
Currently the Milan 23 years old captain Alessio Romagnoli is playing his heart out marshaling the Rossoneri’s defense; however, the snag is in finding a suitable partner who will combine perfectly with him at the center of the defense.
With Mattia Caldara and Matteo Musacchio picking up injuries. Rino is left with just Cristian Zapata and Stefan Simic as the possible option for the second spot in the center of his defense.
So, if the news making the rounds is anything to go by, then Eric Bailly of Man United is a potential option to partner Alessio at the central defense role.
Milan can try to lure Bailly away from England to Italy with the promise of regular playing time. Considering also his contract will expire at the end of the season, and he hasn’t quite found his feet in the Jose Mourinho setup; that could be an offer he couldn’t resist.
If the Eric Bailly deal doesn’t happen, Milan could also be looking at snapping Diego Godin; the Athletico Madrid player would be out of contract in the summer.
The Rossoneri has struggled to find a consistent spark of creativity that has been the hallmark of their team in the past. To compound their woes, Lucas Biglia recently picked a long-term injury that is set to keep him sidelined for four months.
It’s not all bad news for Milan, as Lucas Paqueta, the Brazilian playmaker from Flamengo is set expected to join in January.
With a flair for goal scoring and a growing comparison with a former Milan great, KAKA; the supporters are in for some great time.
There’s also news linking Cesc Fabregas with Milan. According to a report on Daily Mirror, AC Milan is considering offering £10 million to Chelsea for the services of the Spaniard in the January transfer window.
Aaron Ramsey of Arsenal and Adrien Rabiot of PSG are other possible options Milan can pursue to strengthen their midfield.
Though Milan currently in strikers G. Higuain and Patrick C. Two of Serie A’s finest strikers. The problem is there’s no suitable third option Rino can rely on. Now with the manger sometimes preferring to play a 4-4-2 formation with two out and out strikers, he is often left with no reliable striker on the bench.
There’s a growing rumor about the imminent return of Ibra to the Milan side. Gazette reported that the LA Galaxy star would join AC Milan in January for £1.7m for six months with an option for a one-year extension.
