Madrid Refusing To Meet Manchester United’s Demands

The transfer saga of David De Gea is set to rumble on as Manchester United have refused to lower their demand of £28million from Real Madrid for their star man and no it appears De Gea may sack his agent.

The Spanish goalkeepers move back to La Liga looked imminent at the weekend as he sat out Manchester United’s opening Premier League fixture against Tottenham.

Spanish daily Marca though has reported that Madrid are not willing to meet the £28million demand for a player who only has one year left on his contract. They are resigned to the fact that De Gea will remain at Old Trafford for the coming season and will attempt bring him back to the Spanish capital on free next summer.

There are reports that neither side is willing to compromise as De Gea has made clear his intentions to leave the Premier League this season or next.

Madrid have already ready sold their legendary former club captain Iker Casillas to Porto this summer opening up space in the squad for De Gea. The 2014 Champions League winners remain well covered in goal though as Keylor Navas and Kiko Casilla still remain at the club.

24-year-old De Gea has been named in Louis Van Gaal’s Champions League squad as United face Club Brugge next week in the group stage play-offs. The club have been linked with a move for Hugo Lloris who was also left on the bench for Tottenham’s visit to Old Trafford last Saturday suggesting he could be leaving White Hart Lane.

Van Gaal said in the aftermath of the win over Spurs that it was up to the Spanish giants to meet his clubs demands.

“The most important part is the player and the club who wants to buy him. He’s our best player for the past two or three years so we cannot let him go so easily.”

De Gea has again been left out of the United squad for Friday’s game against Aston Villa as Van Gaal doesn’t believe he is in the correct mind frame to play.

The future of fellow United goalkeepers Victor Valdes and Anders Lindegaard look similarly unclear as the pair were not part of the squad for last Saturday’s and have also not been included for Friday evening’s trip to Villa Park.

Valdes looks certain to leave after he was spotted in a suit without the club badge on it while the rest of the unused players were seen wearing official Manchester United attire.
