Bernard Brogan scored 2-07 as Dublin comfortably beat Louth 4-15 to 0-10 to set up an O’Byrne Cup final against Kildare who saw off Offaly 1-12 to 1-01 as Seanie Johnston scored seven points in his first start for the Lilywhites.
Brogan wasted no time getting his own scoring underway with two goals and a point under his belt after ten minutes.
Emmet O’Conghaile and Paul Hudson added one each to give the Dubs a 4-08 to 0-7 lead going in at the break.
The second half was quieter as Jim Gavin’s side knew the job was done and Dublin remained in control before extending their lead to 17 points by the full time whistle.
Kildare meanwhile had a much nervier close to their afternoon, after going in 1-4 each at half time the Lilywhites built a three lead in the second half but were nearly drawn into extra time only for Niall McNamee to miss a late penalty.
The date for the O’Byrne Cup final has been confirmed as next Saturday, January 26th at 7pm in Parnell Park
