Olympic Mens Soccer – Preview of Brazil v Denmark – Kick off 2am Thursday

Surprise Group A leaders Denmark who are currently on 4 points, after 1 win and 1 draw in their opening two games take on hosts Brazil who have 2 points on Wednesday the 10th of August in the final round of the group stages in the Rio Olympics.

Denmark, are the only team so far in Group A that have registered a win, having defeated South Africa 1-0 in Brasilia on Sunday last. All of the other matches in the group have finished scoreless draws. Striker Robert Skov provided the winning goal in Denmark’s win over South Africa and the Danes are in the driving seat as they approach the final group game on Wednesday. Brazil v Denmark Odds are very much in favour of  the home nation with  888sport.com making them 1/4 favourites.

The Brazillians, who were pre-tournament favourites by the bookmakers to win the gold medal have been disappointing and they were held to a 0-0 draw with Iraq last Sunday at the Estadio Nacional Mane Garrincha. Brazil, who have the frontline trio of Barcelona’s Neymar as well as new Man City signing Gabriel Jesus and young star Gabriel Barbosa seemed to be not working for coach Rogerio Micale as they misfired for the second successive game.

Brazil, in fact could end up missing the quarter finals entirely if they lose to Denmark and Iraq win over South Africa, so a lot is riding on a big performance from the hosts on Wednesday evening.

Brazil should rise their game and get the required win. A score prediction of 2-0 to Brazil to win.

Denmark starting lineup (4-4-1-1 formation): Hojbjerg; Desler, Gregor, Gomes, Blabjerg; Borsting, Maxso, Jonsson, Vibe; Larsen; Brock-Madsen

Brazil starting lineup (4-3-3 formation): Weverton; Zeca, Marquinhos, Caio, Santos; Augusto, Maia, Anderson; Gabriel, Jesus, Neymar
