Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has told BBC’s Match of the Day program that the Football Association needs to take action against Manchester United striker Robin van Persie.
Van Persie was involved in an off-the-ball incident with Magpies midfielder Yohan Cabaye as the Red Devils won the game comfortably in the end on a 3-0 scoreline.
“He [Van Persie] has looked at Yohan and elbowed him. I think that perhaps needs to be looked at, if I am honest,” said Pardew.
“I thought Yohan wouldn’t have gone down if he hadn’t done something. The FA can review the incident if referee Howard Webb did not see it.
“I didn’t see it myself, but I’ve seen it on the replay and it looks like he has looked at him and aimed his elbow at Yohan,” added the 51 year-old.
Manchester United moved up to second in the Premier League table with the three points and manager Sir Alex Ferguson praised his side’s determination and focus.
The visitors were 2-0 up inside the first 15 minutes thanks to headers from defenders Jonny Evans and Patrice Evra before Tom Cleverley added a third with a cracking long range effort 19 minutes from time.
