Shane Duffy and Leanne Kiernan won the Senior Male and Senior Female Player of the Year categories respectively at the 29th ‘Three’ FAI International Awards this evening in Dublin.
Duffy’s took the award for the second year in succession as Kiernan was the female award for the first time.
Two players were inducted into the FAI Hall of Fame, with Emma Byrne becoming the first women’s player to be honoured in this category, while former Republic of Ireland defender Richard Dunne was similarly honoured.
Aiden O’Brien won the ‘Three’ Goal of the Year for his debut header against Poland. The striker was voted ahead of both Troy Parrott (Men’s Under-17s v Bosnia & Herzegovina) and Ronan Curtis (Men’s Under-21s v Kosovo).
Dundalk midfielder Chris Shields beat club-mates Pat Hoban and Michael Duffy for the SSE Airtricity League Player of the Year.
The Special Merit Award saw all-time record goalscorer Brendan Bradley recognised for a fantastic career that saw him score 235 League goals.
