New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is reportedly interested in bringing Matts Hummels, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thomas Muller to Old Trafford.
The newly installed manager at the club has reportedly informed executive chairman Ed Woodward that he hopes to sign the world class German trio this summer. Van Gaal is currently focusing on the Netherland’s World Cup campaign and is unable to undergo transfer negotiations at his new club. This role will be taken up by Woodward in van Gaal’s absence.
The three German stars, all of whom will be representing their national side at the World Cup in Brazil, are unlikely to leave their respective clubs for a cheap fee. Manchester United are likely to pay in excess of £100 million in order to acquire the three players as well as give them a considerable wage increase.
Meanwhile, Southampton’s young full-back Luke is rumoured to be close to agreeing a deal that would see him play at Old Trafford next season.
