Twitter Responds to Celtic Fightback

On Wednesday night, Celtic pulled off an astonishing comeback to defeat Kazakh side Shakter Karagandy at Parkhead to book their place in the Champions League group stages.

Goals from Kris Commons, Georgios Samaras and a late, late strike from Forrest was enough to grab the 3-2 win on away goals on aggregate. In truth, they deserved it, and they never looked like giving up as their fans cheered them on right up until the 92nd minute.

In particular, Commons’ goal was an absolute cracker, as he let fly from just outside the edge of the area to give the Karagandy ‘keeper absolutely no chance as the ball rifled past him.

And that was when everyone started to believe that the fightback was well and truly on.

So, when Forrest’s dramatic clincher hit the back of the net, the Parkhead faithful erupted in a cacophony of sound. Amazingly, Neil Lennon’s charges had made it to the group stages of Europe’s elite competition once again, but they couldn’t have made it any more difficult for themselves.

However, let’s be honest, it wouldn’t be the same without them as last year’s astonishing performance against Barcelona clearly underlined.

And with the draw being made on Thursday, there’s bound to be more excitement as their opponents are revealed.

So, it’s time for SportsNewsIreland to take a look back at some of the more enjoyable tweets from Wednesday night, in what’s sure to go down in Celtic folklore as the night that Celtic Park’s nickname truly earned its title; Paradise.
