World Cup Friendlies – France v Republic of Ireland Preview – Kick off 8pm

Ireland travel to the Stade De France next Monday night when they take on France in an international friendly game.

Ireland have been out of action since they failed to qualify for the World Cup this summer and will be eager to get a few wins under their belt in the upcoming friendly games, they play France and the USA, before the campaign for the UEFA Nations League begins in September for which 888sport will have a wide range of markets, Ireland’s opening match is against Wales.

The Ireland squad itself is not be named till Thursday but the FAI have confirmed that Shane Supple current Bohemians goalkeeper and Graham Burke Shamrock Rovers midfielder will both be in the squad that will travel. It is expected a strong squad will be named with likes of Seamus Coleman, John Walters, Shane Duffy and Callum O Dowda just some players to be named. France have named their current world cup squad for the 2016 showcase In Russia with Didier Deschamps opting to pick players like Mbappe, Mendy, N’zonzi, Kante and Griezmann. Some of these players may feature against Ireland at the Stade De France in what is meant to be a sold out game at the Parisian based venue.

It is an opportunity for O’Neill and Keane to look at some more young players as they prepare for the Nations League. Giving youth it’s chance in these games is what I firmly believe in and I expect Martin will opt for this as well.

France are hot favourites and that’s understandable and I do expect them to win especially on home soil, but it will be a massive test for the Boys in Green next Monday but we are looking forward to cheering them on once again.

Prediction: France 2 Ireland 0
