Wales kick-off UEFA Euro 2016 in Group B against Slovakia, with a preview, team news and the key battle at the Stade de Bordeaux (kick-off 5pm).
Wales will welcome back Gareth Bale who missed their pre-tournament friendlies and although he spoke at length that Wales are not simply a one-man team, he needs to stay fit and the burden will rest on his shoulders to bring Wales past the group stages.
Neither have been very prolific in qualifying, Wales scoring 11 goals to Slovakia 17, but the Welsh were tighter in defence, conceding just four goals, to Slovakia’s eight.
Gareth Bale v Martin Škrtel
It could be that Slovakia opt to man-mark Bale and captain Martin Škrtel could be the one to keep him quiet. Bale is key to everything Wales can achieve and if he is kept quiet, Wales could struggle to create. He scored seven goals in qualifying, and Bale aside, Wales managed just four other goals in 10 games.
