Ireland centre Garry Ringrose has put pen to paper on a new three-year IRFU deal that will see him represent both Leinster and the country until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Ringrose has amassed 37 caps for Ireland since making his debut against Canada in 2016 and recently started all three Autumn Nations Series games last month.

Ringrose has won a Grand Slam with Ireland and was on their Rugby World Cup squad for the ill-fated 2019 campaign.

The 26-year-old is close to becoming a centurion with Leinster, sitting ten appearances away from such an honour currently.

He has won four Pro14 titles with the provincial outfit, as well as a Champions Cup in 2018.

IRFU High Performance Director, David Nucifora commented: “Garry has had a tough road with injuries since the World Cup in Japan but he is a top international player who delivers big performances for Ireland and Leinster.

“He will be an influential figure at both national and provincial level over the coming years.”

Garry Ringrose commented: “Delighted to sign for another three years. It is an exciting time to be involved with Leinster and Ireland.

“Both squads have ambition to be competing for silverware every year and I’m motivated to do whatever I can to contribute”

Leinster and Ireland star Tadhg Furlong has signed a new three-year contract that will see him in green until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Furlong recently reached the halfway mark to becoming an Irish centurion when he picked up his 50th cap for the national side against Japan, and now currently sits on 52 after starting in the wins over New Zealand and Argentina.

The Wexford native made his debut for Ireland in a Rugby World Cup 2015 warm-up fixture against Wales at the Aviva Stadium and has been involved with the side since, making six appearances at two World Cups for the boys in green.

The tighthead started all three Tests for the British and Irish Lions against the Springboks during the summer and has started the last six consecutive Lions tests across the two tours of New Zealand (2017) and South Africa (2021).

In blue, Furlong has already crossed into three-digit territory and sits on 116 appearances for Leinster.

He has won one Six Nations title with Ireland as well as a Triple Crown from the Grand Slam year of 2018.

Furlong has won five trophies with Leinster – four Pro 14 titles, all won in succession, and one European Rugby Champions Cup, which he also won in 2018.

David Nucifora, IRFU Performance Director, commented: “Tadhg has again illustrated his pedigree as one of the best tightheads in world rugby.

“His performances for Ireland and the British and Irish Lions in the past year have been top drawer and we are delighted that he has extended his contract to the end of the 2024/25 season.”

Tadhg Furlong commented: “November was a really positive block for the Ireland squad and it was great to have supporters back in the stadium.

“Ireland and Leinster have started the season well and both squads will be aiming for silverware again this season.”

Liverpool defender Nat Phillips has signed a new long-term deal that will keep him at the club until 2025.

The centre-back put pen-to-paper on Tuesday morning at the AXA Training Centre, committing his future to the Reds after his breakthrough last season.

Phillips made 20 appearances across the 2020-21 season after an injury crisis left him as one of the sole options in the heart of the defence.

Phillips told Liverpoolfc.com: “Obviously after last year, it’s really nice to get that reward from the club. I’m happy to be sticking around and being available if the club need to call on me again.

“I’m excited for the next chapter and just to see what that brings.

“It is nice that the club has shown me that recognition and hopefully I can bring more of the same with whatever opportunities come my way.”

Phillips played a significant role in the second-half of the season for Liverpool and appeared 17 times for the side in the Premier League, including all 90 minutes in all eight of their wins in the final ten-game stretch that saw the team finish third.

“Over the off-season I had a bit of time to reflect on what had happened throughout the season, how it ended and to be proud of that,” Phillips added.

“But like I’ve said in previous interviews, you don’t want to dwell on that too much and you want to look forward and see if you can continue to push in a positive direction.

“Obviously it was a dramatic change, no-one saw it coming, I didn’t see it coming – the circumstances that unfolded whereby I ended up playing regularly for Liverpool’s first team.

“For anybody playing for Liverpool’s first team, that is going to be life-changing. For me it’s the same. Obviously it’s brought about this opportunity as well.”

Manchester City FC defender John Stones has extended his contract with the club until 2026.

The 27-year-old has already spent five years at the club after joining from Everton for £50 million in 2016.

Stones’ career at City before last season was filled with individual highs and lows but a stellar season at the back alongside Portuguese centre-half Ruben Dias has seen fans’ opinions of him change.

His 22 appearances in the league garnered 13 clean sheets and the Barnsley native was a key piece in Manchester City’s run to the UEFA Champions League final.

His performances in the semi-finals against Paris Saint-Germain defined a fantastic season for the centre-half.

His form across his 35 appearances for the Citizens earned Stones a call-up to the English international setup.

Stones started every game for Gareth Southgate’s side as they went on a run to the final, falling at the last hurdle to Italy in Wembley.

He has made 168 appearances for Manchester City at the time of writing and has won every trophy in domestic football in England while at the club.

The England international has three Premier Leagues, two League Cups, one FA Cup and two Community Shields to his name.

“I couldn’t be happier,” Stones said. “I love being part of this squad. There are so many quality players here and I know we can continue winning trophies, which is my main focus.

“Working with the manager is a dream – he has taught me so much about the game and I feel like I learn something new every single day.

“The success we’ve had in the last four years has been incredible. To be a part of it has been a dream come true and I just want to continue winning.

“This is the best place for me to play my football and fulfil my ambitions.”
