Last year, Na Piarsaigh were stopped from winning three-in-a-row by Patrickswell. However, they exacted revenge in this year’s semi-final. The city-based team proved too efficient for the 2019 champions. Patrickswell went down to 14 men just before half-time. As a result, Na Piarsaigh were able to finish the stronger of the teams. For instance, they scored the last seven points in a row. Meaning they ran out 1-25 to 0-17 winners.

Meanwhile, Doon defeated Kilmallock in their own semi-final. Two goals from Jack Ryan proved to be the difference. He scored one either side of the interval to help his team to a 2-20 to 1-17 victory. In 2018, Doon lost by eight points in the final to Na Piarsaigh. This year, they are the only undefeated team in the Championship. Specifically, they drew twice in the group stage to qualify in second before their quarter-final and semi-final wins. In fact, one of these draws was to 2019 winners Patrickswell.

Na Piarsaigh’s record speaks for itself and Doon will have to be at their best. Yet, their campaign so far and their previous loss to this opposition in a final will have them raring to go.
