Ralph Rangnick will get his first chance to claim a win as he plays the Gunners at home in a tough midweek clash in the Premier League

Man United v Arsenal will kick off at 20:15 tonight, Thursday 2nd December in Old Trafford. Referee Martin Atkinson will take charge of the tie.

For those that could not claim a ticket, the match will also be shown live on Premier Sports ROI 1.

This week is the beginning of a transition in Manchester United. On Sunday, German manager Ralf Rangnick was officially appointed as the club’s new boss. He will need to impose his mantra quickly as the club are now three games without a wing.

The Reds team is also hampered by injuries so the new head coach will not have a full list to choose from. This important game will still be the idle moment to endear himself to the Old Trafford faithful.

Mikel Arteta has begun to build a very threatening and consistent side with the young Arsenal team. Since a poor 4-0 loss to Liverpool in November, the Gunners are on a three-game winning streak while Aaron Ramsdale has kept three clean sheets.

They sit in fifth place now but a victory will jump them ahead of West Ham United into the Champions League places. It could be some very important points for the club also resigning their rivals to the tenth place in the table.

Many would consider this fixture to be one of the historic and important matchups in the Premier Leagues’ lifetime. Two of the most successful clubs in the competition but Manchester United have a slight advantage going by statistics. The Red Devils have won 11 of their last 25 games while the Gunners have seven wins and the remaining seven are draws.

Last season was quite an uneventful year for this fixture with only one goal score in both matches combined. Arsenal won the first game away from home while the most recent game in January ended 0-0 in the Emirates Stadium.

Score Prediction

This set up to be the biggest and most eye-watering matchup of the midweek fixtures. The match looks to be a six-pointer game that could prove important in how the European places are given out but it is hard to see a victor in this battle between Arteta and Rangnick.

Expect this game to end 1-1 with the sides sharing the points.

Thomas Tuchel takes on Michael Carrick in the match of the weekend with the Reds needing a win off the league leaders

Chelsea v Man United will kick off at 16:30 on Sunday 28th November in Stamford Bridge. Referee Anthony Taylor will take charge of the tie.

For those who could not get a ticket, the match will also be shown live on Sky Sports Premier League Ireland.

Chelsea have continued their strong run since losing to Juventus in September. Tuchel’s side are now 10 games unbeaten with only two of those games being draws. They continue to sit on top of the league, three points ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City.

The squad survived well with their first bout of injuries but now with the return of Lukaku and Pulisic, the club is now missing Kovacic, Kanté, and Chilwell for the foreseeable future.

On the other side of the pitch, Manchester United have grown into a joke team in the Premier League. After a bad spell of results, they languish in eighth place, six points off a Champions League place.

Now with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer departed from the club, it looks like Ralf Rangnick will take charge. It will be interesting to see if he can get the most out of the stars as well as the young guns.

This fixture is one of the most long-awaited and hotly contested games of the year. They have faced each other 33 times since 2010 with Man United winning the slight majority with 12 victories. Chelsea have claimed 11 wins while ten games have also ended in draws.

Although this is a matchup of two of the most successful Premier League clubs, it has been a boring affair of late. Last season, both games ended in uneventful 0-0 stalemates.

Now both teams have different managers and styles so this match will depend much more on recent form.

Chelsea v Man United Probable Starting Teams

Chelsea FC

Formation

3-4-2-1

Probable Starting 11

Mendy (GK), Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger, Alonso, Jorginho, Saul, James, Ziyech, Mount, Lukaku.

Injuries / Suspensions

Chilwell (Cruciate ligament), Havertz (Hamstring), Kovacic (Hamstring), Kanté (Knee),

Manchester United

Formation

4-2-3-1

Probable Starting 11

De Gea (GK), Telles, Lindelof, Bailly, Wan-Bissaka, McTominay, Van de Beek, Rashford, Fernandes, Sanches, Ronaldo.

Injuries / Suspensions

Cavani (Tendon injury), Greenwood (Covid-19), Pogba (Thigh), Varane (Hamstring), Maguire (Red card)

Chelsea v Man United Match Betting

Chelsea FC to win: 4/7

Draw: 14/5

Manchester United to win: 9/2

Score Prediction

United fans might be in high spirits with the new interim managerial appointment but it will be too soon for Michael Carrick and Rangnick to make a difference in Manchester. Chelsea have the stronger team and clearer tactics and this will shine through at the weekend.

Expect the game to end 4-1 to Chelsea.

Manchester United v Aston Villa – Preview, Lineups, Betting, TV Coverage

Manchester United and Aston Villa will go head-to-head on the Gameweek 5 of the 2021/2022 Premier League season.

This game will be an interesting game for both teams. The last time these two sides met was last May where Ole Gunnar Solsjkaers side came out 1-3 victors at Villa Park. Man United also took 6 points from 6 from Villa in the 2020/2021 season.

Manchester United Retrospective

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is coming off a 0-1 home loss to West Ham United in the League Cup and will be hoping to put things right here with a comprehensive win at Old Trafford.

Winning 1-2 away to Wes Ham last Sunday in the league with a Jesse Lingard winner late on, before David De Gea saved a dramatic last-minute penalty from substitute Mark Noble.

Aston Villa Retrospective

Dean Smith’s side will come into this game full of confidence after their last two showings. Winning 3-0 at home to in-form and unbeaten Everton was a major coup and while they did lose on Wednesday to Chelsea in the League Cup on penalties, they managed to create numerous chances late on and could have won it.

Date, kick-off time and venue

This game between West Ham United and Manchester United will kick off at 12:30 pm BST (British Summer Time) on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Old Trafford.

Where to watch Manchester United v Aston Villa

The game will not be televised on any UK based platform.

Manchester United v Aston Villa team news

Edison Cavani is still out but may feature from the bench. Amad Diallo Traore is set to return from a thigh injury next month.

Marcus Rashford is still recovering from his shoulder surgery but is back in training. With manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saying on Tuesday;  “I don’t think we’ll see Marcus until after the international break.”

Dean Smith will be without Axel Tuanzebe in his defence as the defender is cup-tied as he is currently on loan from United.

John McGinn is currently being assessed by the Villa medical team after he suffered a head injury in their 3-0 win against Everton but should be fit to play.

Summer signing Leon Bailey is currently suffering from an ongoing thigh injury and is currently being assessed while Matt Targett may return in time to start after a groin injury.

West Ham United v Manchester United prediction

It should be a tight and cagey game, with both teams playing well this season, attacking well and defending adequately.

Man United sit third in the league table, level on points with both league leaders Chelsea and second-place Liverpool. They were knocked out of the League Cup midweek but with many of their big hitters rested this game should be different.

Villa was also knocked out by Chelsea on penalties but they had a lot of chances after equalising and will feel like they should have done better.

Both teams will need the points, for United, it is to carry on their unbeaten run and put pressure on their rivals while Villa will need some form of consistency.

Prediction: Manchester United 1-0

Predicted Line-Up

Manchester United XI – (4-2-3-1)

West Ham United v Manchester United – Preview, Lineups, Betting, TV Coverage

West Ham United v Manchester United will go head-to-head on the Gameweek 5 of the 2021/2022 Premier League season.

This game will be an interesting game for both teams. The last time these two sides met was last March where Ole Gunnar Solsjkaers side came out 1-0 victors. Man United also took 6 points from 6 from West Ham in the 2020/2021 season.

West Ham United Retrospective

In their last game, David Moye’s side was left frustrated with a 0-0 draw away to Southampton. The highlight of the game being Michail Antonio’s sending off in second-half injury time.

Although, they have continued on their hot form with 8 points from 12, remaining unbeaten so far.

Manchester United Retrospective

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is coming off a shock 2-1 loss to Young Boys in their opening group stage game in the Champions League. Leading at half-time, Aaron Wan-Bissaka was deservedly sent off for a potential ankle breaker. They eventually conceded in the final minute of injury time after a Jesse Lingard pass-back.

They come into this match top of the league, with their last match being a 4-1 home win over Newcastle United. With 10 points from 12. Scoring 11 and conceding 3, they look like early title contenders.

Date, kick-off time and venue

This game between West Ham United and Manchester United will kick off at 2 pm BST (British Summer Time) on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at The London Stadium.

Where to watch Manchester United v Newcastle United

The game will be televised on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.

West Ham United v Manchester United team news

The only injury and suspensions worries for West Ham are Winston Reid’s knee injury, with no return date announced.

In-form striker Michail Antonio will be out due to picking up a red card and will serve his one-game suspension here.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be available as his suspension is only for European Football. Edison Cavani is still out but may feature from the bench, Alex Telles is still a week or so out from an ankle injury.

While Scott McTominay will be observed from a hip injury.

West Ham United v Manchester United prediction

It should be a tight and cagey game, with both teams playing well this season, attacking well and defending adequately.

While West Ham is at home and have shown a resilient side to them when playing at The London Stadium, I believe Manchester United will prove too strong here.

Without their main goal threat in Michail Antonio, where will the goals come from? With Ronaldo and Bruno linking up well, they should have too much firepower for West Ham to control.

Prediction: Manchester United 1-3

Predicted Line-Up

West Ham United XI – (4-2-3-1)

L. Fabianski, A. Cresswell, A. Ogbonna, K. Zouma, V. Coufal, D. Rice, T. Soucek, P. Fornals, S. Benrahma, J. Bowen, A. Yarmolenko

Manchester United XI – (4-2-3-1)

Manchester United v Newcastle United will go head-to-head on the Gameweek 5 of the 2021/2022 Premier League season.

This game will be an interesting game for both teams. The last time these two sides met was last February where Ole Gunnar Solsjkaers side came out 3-1 victors. Man United also took 6 points from 6 from Newcastle in the 2020/2021 season.

Manchester United Retrospective

Things are looking very brightly for Man United so far this season. A great transfer window that saw marquee names Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane brought in. But, it was the return of Cristiano Ronaldo that has catapulted United into red-hot title favourites.

Defensively and Attacking-wise, United look strong and if they manage to keep their form going steadily along, they will be hard stopped.

Newcastle United Retrospective

Steve Bruce is under pressure at Tyneside, a relatively average transfer window with one ”big money” signing in Joe Willock, they are still without a win this season.

While they may struggle in this game, they do have winnable games for the remainder of September and October to notch points up on the board.

Date, kick-off time and venue

This game between Manchester United and Newcastle United will kick off at 3 pm BST (British Summer Time) on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Old Trafford.

Where to watch Manchester United v Newcastle United

The game will not be televised live on any UK channel.

Manchester United v Newcastle United team news

Marcus Rashford is still recovering from shoulder surgery, while Phil Jones, Alex Telles and Eric Bailly are all out.

Edison Cavani is set to make a return to action.

Martin Dubravka, Jonjo Shelvey, Isaac Hayden Paul Dummett and Callum Wilson are all in a race against time to be fit for this game after picking up knocks.

Manchester United v Newcastle United prediction

Both sides are the polar opposite in terms of form and quality. Man United are still unbeaten this season with 2 wins and 1 draw with their last league game saw them overcome Wolves 0-1 with a Mason Greenwood winner.

Newcastle looked void of ideas and should be truly outclassed here. Expect them to defend in droves.

Prediction: Manchester United 5-1

Predicted Line-Up

Manchester United XI – (4-2-3-1)

D, Gea, L. Shaw, H. Maguire, R. Varane, A. Wan-Bissaka, S. McTominay, Fred, P. Pogba, B. Fernandes, J. Sancho, C. Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo confirms United Move

Cristiano Ronaldo has come out on Instagram to confirm his sensational return to Manchester United after leaving Juventus last week.

Ronaldo (36) left Juventus after 3 years in Turin. It looked like he was on the verge of signing for rivals Manchester City, but they pulled out according to reports.

The Premier League club will pay £12.9 million-plus a further £6.9 million in bonuses for the five-time Ballon D’or winner.

United, who the player enjoyed six honour filled years at, scoring 118 goals in 292 games for United between 2003 and 2009, winning three Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and two League Cups.

After both United and Juventus reached an agreement last Friday, Ronaldo posted to Instagram to confirm his return to England after 12 years.

The post read;

Everyone who knows me, knows about my never-ending love for Manchester United. The years I spent in this club where absolutely amazing and the path we’ve made together is written in gold letters in the history of this great and amazing institution.

I can’t even start to explain my feelings right now, as I see my return to Old Trafford announced worldwide. It’s like a dream come true, after all the times that I went back to play against Man. United, and even as an opponent, to have always felt such love and respect from the supporters in the stands. This is absolutely 100% the stuff that dreams are made of!

My first domestic League, my first Cup, my first call to the Portuguese National team, my first Champions League, my first Golden Boot and my first Ballon d’Or, they were all born from this special connection between me and the Red Devils. History has been written in the past and history will be written once again! You have my word!

I’m right here!
I’m back where I belong!
Let’s make it happen once again!

PS – Sir Alex, this one is for you…

The Premier League is back up and running for the 2021/2022 season, and with plenty of money spent on new signings, the question will be posed, who are the 5 players to look out for this Premier League season?

With many to choose from, picking 5 players was a hard task, but here is the 5 players to look out for, this Premier League Season.

1. Kai Havertz

The German international had an interesting first season in English football last season after his £72 million switch from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

Taking his time to adjust, he gained some form around October time before testing positive for Covid-19 and missing a whole host of games from Long Covid. After the arrival of fellow German Thomas Tuchel as head coach, Havertz fortune changed.

Playing more like a false 9 at the latter stages of the season, his big moment came in the Champions League final against Manchester City in Porto. Scoring the winning goal in the first half to secure Chelsea’s second Champions League triumph.

For the new season, I fully expect the German to shine. He has the capabilities to become a truly world-class player in the coming years. He has already started brightly, assisting Hakim Ziyech for the opening goal in Chelsea’s Super Cup win.

2. Mohammed Salah

What can be said about Liverpool’s goal-scoring machine that has not been said already? Liverpool’s main scoring output since his arrival in the 2017/18 season where he netted 32 goals and 11 assists in the Premier League while getting a ridiculous 60 goal contribution’s in 52 games.

Since then, he has been involved in 112 goals in 203 games for the Merseyside outfit.

Last season, while Jurgen Klopp’s team struggled to compete for the highest honours, Salah performed to the best of his ability given the negative circumstances surrounding the club.

This season he is somewhat of a dark horse for the Golden Boot, scoring 1 and assisting 2 on the opening day fixture against Norwich in a 0-3 victory.

Liverpool will need him firing on all cylinders this season if they want to challenge to get back the Premier League title they gave up with a whimper last season.

3. Trent Alexander-Arnold

Easily one of the most maligned footballers last season, Liverpool’s right-back Trent had a difficult season, to say the least. The season prior, Trent was involved in 19 goals, scoring 4 and assisting 15 on the way to lifting the Premier League title.

Performances were not good enough last season, and Trent would be the first one to admit that. But, credit where credit is due, he did perform to help Liverpool reach a top 4 place during the latter stages of the season.

He should be back to his best this season, with a lot to prove and a whole host of doubters. He will have a fire burner of a season.

4. Romelu Lukaku

The big Belgian has returned back to Chelsea after leaving back in 2014. A deal that was 7 years in the making. Lukaku has admitted to having ”unfinished business” with the Champions League holders.

After leaving Manchester United, Lukaku took over Serie A, helping them secure their first league title in 11 years. Now he is back in London after a £97.5 million move and was brought in for one thing and one thing only, goals.

Chelsea severely lacked goals last season, with Timo Werner misfiring, Oliver Giroud used sparingly and Tammy Abraham being frozen out by Thomas Tuchel. ‘Big Rom’ has been touted as the missing key to Chelsea’s puzzle. If he performs to his high expectations he should cause mayhem for defences.

5. Jadon Sancho

The long-awaited arrival of Jadon Sancho to Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund was the talk of the previous transfer window, but it never actually happened.

Thankfully for United fans, this summer, the deal was made in time for the start of the new season and it’s safe to say, he will be a star and a future number 7 for the club.

Like Lukaku for Chelsea, Sancho is seen as the missing piece to United’s puzzle, strengthening the much-needed right-side of the forward line that Solskjaer craved. He will have a big season for The Red Devils in the quest for League title 21.

A look at every potential in and out’s from Manchester United from the summer transfer window.

Manchester United transfer news and rumours:

Who has Man United been linked with?

Eduardo Camavinga

The Rennes midfielder has been a high point of interest for United since the start of the transfer window. Touted as the next Paul Pogba, he reportedly has a £25 million price tag set on him and United have come out as one of the frontrunners for his signature.

According to many sources, United have cooled their interest as of late. With Manchester United pausing their interest in the £25m-rated Rennes midfielder (Daily Star on Sunday, August 15).

Manchester United have suffered a potential transfer blow with midfielder Eduardo Camavinga now rated “unlikely” to leave Rennes this summer (Daily Express, August 7).

Chelsea is also interested in the 18-year olds signature.

Kieran Trippier

Harry Kane

If any deal falls through, Manchester United are hoping Kane stays at Tottenham this summer so that he continues to fit into their plans for their next three signings (Daily Star, August 2)

Declan Rice

The latest from inside Declan Rice’s camp is that he is yet to sign a contract extension with West Ham United.

He is back training and does not want to force a move out of the club that he has been with since his youth days.

Chelsea has been heavily linked with the midfielder, while Man United have been looking at him as a potential incoming to bolster their central defensive midfielder issue.

(Sky Sports, August 10): Manchester United have no intention of selling Martial during this summer’s transfer window.

Jesse Lingard

(Sky Sports, August 3): West Ham have admitted that they have a 10 per cent chance of signing Jesse Lingard after his successful loan spell after last season.

Manchester United will host old rivals Leeds United at Old Trafford on the opening weekend of the 2021/2022 Premier League season.

This game will mark the return of Premier League football for both Manchester United and Leeds United.

Man United will hope to hit the ground running after the acquisitions of Jadon Sancho and soon-to-be Raphael Varane. Making them title favourites alongside Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Finishing second last year, 12 points off Manchester City, The Red Devils will be eager to cut the deficit down this season.

Rivals Leeds enjoyed an exciting return to the Premier League last season, finishing 9th, with an impressive 59 points.

An old rivalry will resume at Old Trafford with a mouth-watering tie here.

Manchester United Retrospective

United’s summer transfer business has been a successful one so far, bringing in long-time target Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and on the verge of announcing Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.

Sancho’s arrival fills up the much-needed wide play-maker that has frustrated United going forward for years.

In recent weeks, rumours of potential outgoings (Paul Pogba) and incomings for the central midfield spot have taken over much of the transfer speculation.

Leeds United Retrospective

Marco Bielsa’s Leeds finished in the top half of the Premier League table since being relegated in the 2003-2004 season.

Playing thrilling all-out attack football has impressed neutral fans alike.

Showcasing a brand of high-tempo football that sometimes has given Leeds fans chaotic yet exciting football.

They come into this season with the hope of progressing further into the European places, with some young left sided-players bought for a combined £26 million.

Bielsa has recently signed a new one year contract that keeps him at Elland Road.

Date, kick-off time and venue

This old English rivalry will resume with Manchester United and Leeds United set to kick-off at 12:30 pm BST (British Summer Time) on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Old Trafford.

Where to watch Manchester United vs Leeds United

TV Channel: This match will be televised live in the UK via BT Sport 1, with coverage starting at 11:30 pm.

Manchester United vs Leeds United team news

Coming into this match, Man United will be without attacker Marcus Rashford for the first 2-3 months of the upcoming season with a shoulder injury and is set for surgery.

New signing Jadon Sancho will hope to make his debut in front of the Old Trafford fateful and is in contention.

Dean Henderson and Jesse Lingard are out after contracting COVID-19, while Alex Telles (ankle), Phil Jones (knee) and Eric Bailly (Olympic duty) are all unavailable.

For their opponents, Leeds have no serious injury concerns to look out for. £13 million summer signing Junior Firpo could be included in the matchday squad after returning from injury alongside Jamie Shackleton.

Manchester United vs Leeds United prediction

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a lot to prove in what will be his 3rd season at the helm. Winning a trophy will be their main objective this season, albeit the Premier League or a domestic trophy.

The last time these two sides met saw Manchester United thrash Leeds 6-2, when they faced off at Elland Road, it was a dull 0-0 draw, so predicting this match-up is a toss of a coin.

With the inclusion of Jadon Sancho and the incoming arrival of Raphael Varane, the confidence and hope around United are justified.

The Red Devils will fancy their chances here.

Prediction: Man United 2-0

Tottenham v Man United takes place on Friday evening at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. The game kicks off at 8.15pm. Check out the preview, team news and betting information below.

Both teams come into this game chasing a place in the top four. Therefore, looking for a place in the Champions League next season. Jose Mourinho’s side are currently sitting in 8th place in the table, seven points behind Chelsea who are in fourth. Man United are in 5th place, just one point off Frank Lampard’s side.

Team News

Harry Kane,Song Heung Min and Moussa Sissoko will start.  Dele Alli will miss the game through suspension, a one match ban. Japhet Tanganga and Giovanni Lo Celso are both injured and not expected to feature.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will basically have a full squad to pick from. The only players that they will be without is Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe. Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford will return for this game.

Statistics

  • Manchester United are looking to record consecutive away Premier League wins against Spurs for the first time since a run of six in a row between September 2001 and February 2007.
  • Tottenham have lost their last two Premier League games against Manchester United, last losing three in a row back in October 2010 (four in a row).
  • This will be Manchester United’s first-ever Premier League visit to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
  • Manchester United’s only previous competitive matches in June came in the 1965 Fairs Cup semi-final, with United losing both legs against Ferencvaros.

Betting

Spurs have lost two of their last five games, whereas Man United haven’t lost in their last 5 Premier League games. They have won three and drawn two. My prediction here is I expect both teams to score. Marcus Rashford to score anytime is a fantastic. The odds for a 1-1 draw is 12/5. That would be my selection.
