Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has been named the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for September in the Premier League.

The Liverpool forward was on the scoresheet three times in the division in the month, striking against Leeds United, Crystal Palace and Brentford.
That streak included both his 100th career Premier League goal and his top-flight century for the Reds, who remain unbeaten in the division in 2021-22.
Salah claimed 69 per cent of the vote for the PFA accolade to see off competition from Michail Antonio, Cristiano Ronaldo, Antonio Rudiger, Ismaila Sarr and Ivan Toney.

Salah scored a goal in all three of Liverpool’s games in the Premier division of English football in September – he scored against Leeds United, Crystal Palace and Brentford.

The 29-year-old has been the star for Jurgen Klopp’s side since arriving at the club and this season has been no different thus far.

The team recently drew with defending Premier League champions Manchester City at Anfield before the international break.

The game was scoreless at halftime but a pulsating second half saw Mo Salah star for Liverpool once again.

Salah’s goal was a sight to behold as he danced past four defenders and put the ball past Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson to restore Liverpool’s lead, which did not last.

He received the ball several yards from the edge of the City box and escaped a three-man press before entering the box, staring down centre-back Aymeric Laporte.

He opened a space for himself to move beyond Laporte with an eye for a shot and fired one past Ederson to the delight of the 40,000 Liverpool fans in attendance.

It was a move he has done several times before – against Tottenham in 2018 and Napoli in the season Liverpool brought home the Champions League trophy for the first time in 14 years.

The Egyptian will aim to continue his goalscoring exploits when the Premier League makes its return to our screen this weekend following the end of the October international window.

Liverpool will travel to Vicarage Road to face Watford on Saturday, October 16 at 12:30 pm.

Mohamed Salah of Liverpool joined the Premier League’s 100 Club, becoming the 30th player to achieve that fete. But who will be the 31st player to join Salah into the club?

Last month, Mohamed Salah cemented his place in an elite Premier League club by scoring his 100th goal in the league for Liverpool.

Salah scored his 100th goal for Liverpool in their 3-0 win over Leeds United, putting him in the renowned “100 Club” of players who have scored 100 goals or more in the Premier League since 1992-93.

Liverpool’s undefeated record now stands at 16 games (12 victories and four draws) which is the longest active stretch in the division.

The EPL is set to return on Saturday, and Vwin will continue to update soccer scores online for fans to get a feel of the action. Vwin is a reputable Vietnamese betting company bringing sports events from all over the world.

Salah became the 30th player to achieve triple digits since Alan Shearer joined the team in 1995-96 when he diverted home Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross in the 20th minute. With 260 goals for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United, the former England captain remains the league’s all-time leading scorer.

Shearer also holds the record for scoring 100 Premier League goals in the fewest number of games, requiring only 124 appearances during his ludicrously productive stint at Blackburn. Harry Kane (141 games) is the second-fastest player to reach the century mark in the Premier League, with Sergio Aguero (147), Thierry Henry (160), and Mohamed Salah (162) filling out the top five.

Salah becomes the latest member of the 100 Club since Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy won his spot in April 2020. Salah hit the milestone with 98 goals for Liverpool and two goals for Chelsea earlier in his career. Vardy, along with Kane (166 goals) and Romelu Lukaku (120 goals), is one of just three active Premier League players above Salah in the 100 Club (116).

There are many active Premier League players immediately behind Salah on the list who are on the verge of becoming centurion members, with a handful on track to do so before the end of the 2021-22 season. So, who’ll be the next in line?

Sadio Mane – Liverpool (99 goals)

Mane’s goal in Liverpool’s 2-02 draw against Manchester City puts him just a goal short of his Premier League century. He shared the 2018-19 title with colleague Salah and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He is also the third-highest scoring African player in Premier League history, behind Didier Drogba (104) and Mohamed Salah (102).

Raheem Sterling – Manchester City (97 goals)

Sterling is just three goals away from dining in the 100 club table, having converted from a typical winger to a prolific attacker under Pep Guardiola’s tutelage. Since 2017-18, Sterling has scored an average of 16 league goals each season for City, a huge improvement on his prior average scoring rate of just five league goals per season.

Cristiano Ronaldo – Manchester United (87 goals)

Ronaldo got closer to his Premier League century with a brace in his second debut for United in their 4-1 win over Newcastle, and a winner in their 2-1 away victory against West Ham. The Portuguese is 13 goals short of a century, four behind his current United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who scored 91 league goals for the club during his playing career. Don’t rule out the possibility of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner joining the elite club before the season ends.

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has received a nomination for September’s PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award as a result of his performances.

Salah is one of six Premier League players on the shortlist for the monthly award after scoring three goals in the month, reaching a landmark 100 in the competition.

The Egyptian is up against Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United), Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea), Ismaila Sarr (Watford), Ivan Toney (Brentford) and Michail Antonio (West Ham United).

Salah scored a goal in all three of Liverpool’s games in the Premier division of English football in September – he scored against Leeds United, Crystal Palace and Brentford.

The 29-year-old has been the star for Jurgen Klopp’s side since arriving at the club and this season has been no different thus far.

The team recently drew with defending Premier League champions Manchester City at Anfield after a pulsating second half.

Mo Salah was the star of the show for Liverpool and the fans named him their Man of the Match when the game ended.

It was a move he has done several times before – against Tottenham in 2018 and Napoli in the season Liverpool brought home the Champions League trophy for the first time in 14 years.

Yet, that’s what made it so special.

Fans can vote for Liverpool’s No.11 here and have until 11.59 pm BST on Sunday to do so.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said that Mohamed Salah’s goal against Manchester City will still be talked about in 60 years time.

Salah finished off a magnificent individual move which saw the winger beat four City defenders before putting the ball past Ederson to give Liverpool a 2-1 lead.

The lead did not last forever but the goal will live long in the memory of fans – Liverpool, Manchester City and neutrals alike.

Curtis Jones was awarded the assist for Salah’s goal but it was the Egyptian that made the chance for himself.

Yet, that’s what made it so special.

Jurgen Klopp is one of many admirers of the goal Salah scored in the 2-2 draw and gave his thoughts on it after the game: “The second goal, only the best players in the world score goals like this.

“The first touch, the first challenge he wins, then going there, putting it on the right foot and then finishing the situation off like he did, absolutely exceptional.

“Because this club never forgets anything, people will talk about this goal for a long, long time and in 50 or 60 years when they remember this game. It was a really good one.”

Regardless of De Bruyne’s equaliser and the final result, the goal will go into the pantheon of unforgettable moments that Mo Salah has produced in a Liverpool shirt, which will undoubtedly see many more enter it.

Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards is expected to step down from his role at the club next summer, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

Edwards’ contract runs until the end of the current season and he is believed to have informed the hierarchy at Liverpool of his intention to leave.

Ornstein added that the situation is not final and that discussions are ongoing to keep the popular sporting director at the club.

However, the expected outcome is that the long-term relationship Edwards has with the club will come to a close when his existing contract ends.

Julian Ward, who was promoted to assistant sporting director in December, is the man expected to replace Edwards if he leaves.

Edwards was hired by Harry Redknapp to be Portsmouth’s Head of Performance Analysis in 2003 and stayed at the club for six years.

He was in the same role at Tottenham Hotspur under Redknapp for two years and joined Liverpool in 2011.

Edwards has been Liverpool’s sporting director since November 2016 and has sculpted a Premier League-winning side in a number of years alongside Jurgen Klopp and recruitment staff.

The former Peterborough United player signed the likes of Virgil Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Fabinho to the club, helping to grow Klopp’s Liverpool into one of the best sides in the world.

His sales have also been impressive as the Englishman has had a history of getting great deals for outgoing players in his time in the role.

Rhian Brewster moved to Sheffield United last summer for a fee of £24 million while Dominic Solanke, who scored one goal for the club, was sold to Bournemouth for a fee in the region of £20 million.

He oversaw the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for a massive £142 million – a move that kick-started Liverpool’s evolution into one of the greatest sides in the world.

Liverpool have agreed a deal in the region of £9.5 million (€11m) with French side Olympique Lyonnais for want-away playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri.

Shaqiri will leave Merseyside after making 45 appearances for the Reds and winning four trophies in the process.

He was signed from Stoke City in the summer of 2018 for a fee of £13.5m after Paul Lambert’s side were relegated from the Premier League.

His three years a the club has seen the 29-year-old add a Premier League and a second UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup to his personal trophy haul.

The Swiss international has been looking for a move this summer after a lack of playing time following a successful first season with the club.

His move will give more opportunities to academy prospects, with the rise of 18-year-old Harvey Elliott being well documented and forward Kaide Gordon also impressing in pre-season.

Lyon recently had a bid for Shaqiri rejected but it appears that they have a sweet spot with their latest bid.

Shaqiri turns 30 this year and has one year left on his contract with an option for an extra year.

The Swiss attacker will put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the Ligue 1 team, who have been looking for a Memphis Depay replacement since the Dutchman’s departure earlier this summer.

Shaqiri has not been part of Liverpool’s first two matchday squads of the season while Harvey Elliott has been in both, starting their most recent fixture against Burnley.

Elliott impressed on his first Premier League start for the club with his creativity shining throughout and his movement proving tricky for the opposition to contain.

The childhood Liverpool fan was denied an assist when Mohamed Salah’s strike was ruled out by VAR as the Egyptian was in an offside position but his role in Liverpool’s second did not go unnoticed.

Shaqiri will get the playtime he desires in a break-up that works well for both parties.
