South Africa have announced their side to face the British and Irish Lions in the first of a three-test series this Saturday.

The game will take place at the Cape Town Stadium in Cape Town and will kick-off at 5 pm.

Flanker Siya Kolisi will captain the side in their first third consecutive Lions series as world champions.

Bongi Mbonambi and Trevor Nyakane, who both sustained injuries during that world cup run, start alongside Nche in the front row.

Eben Etzebeth is paired with Franco Mostert in the second row, a man who was an important rotation in the world cup.

Kolisi is joined by 2019 World Player of the Year Pieter-Steph Du Toit and Kwagga Smith in the back row.

Maverick scrum-half Faf de Klerk will wear the number nine shirt this weekend with Handre Pollard deemed to be fit enough to play alongside him at fly-half.

Pollard will earn his 50th cap against the Lions.

Damian De Allende and Lukhanyo Am offer a strong centre partnership while Makazole Mapimpi and Cheslin will provide devasting pace on the flanks.

Full-back Willie Le Roux will round off the back three in the number 15 shirt.

The bench sees the Springboks change from a 6-2 split to a 5-3 split with Herschel Jantjies, Elton Jantjies and Damian Willemse being the backs on the bench.

2011 Champion Golfer of the Year Darren Clarke has said that he is excited to be back at the Royal St. George’s Golf Course in Sandwich, where he won The Open 10 years ago.

It is the first time that The Open has been held at the venue since the Antrim golfer’s win and the second time it will be the final men’s major of the season in recent history.

Speaking at a press conference for The Open on Wednesday, he feels that it is special to return to the place where he won.

“It’s great to come back to any golf course where you’ve played well on and won but to come back to an Open venue where you’ve played well on and won is even more special,” said Clarke.

The 52-year-old sees it as a privilege to be able to return to the Royal St. George as the last person to win the tournament there.

He won the Claret Jug in 2011 at his 20th attempt, having come close before when he came third in the 2001 Open.

The win was a childhood dream of Clarke’s, who sees the win as the best moment of his career.

He was an outsider in 2011 and praised the history of the course, which has seen shock wins in the Open throughout its existence as a tournament venue.

Clarke talked of his approach to the weekend 10 years ago, a weekend which he felt changed his mindset.

“I was ready to step across the line and win the biggest and best tournament in the world and the one I had always wanted to win.”

He noted that there are differences this week when compared to the Open Championship week in 2011.

The wind direction is different and the 18-hole course is a lot softer than it was during the last Open weekend at Sandwich.

Clarke said that these factors change the way the links course will be played this weekend.

“There won’t be so much chasing the greens, more flying them in there.”

The Open takes place from Thursday, July 15th to Sunday, July 18th with coverage of the tournament exclusively on Sky Sports The Open.

All Irish tee times for the first two rounds of the tournament are available here.

James Tennyson produced a stunning display as he beat Gavin Gwynne at the Fight Night Camp in Essex on Saturday evening. The sixth round stoppage meant Tennyson claimed the British lightweight title.

Tennyson who is 26 years of age, was due to fight his opponent in May. However, with Covid 19 this couldn’t happen. However, it was worth the wait for the Belfast man as he put in a spectacular six round performance to make two wins on the bounce after beating Craig Evans in November 2019. To the credit of Gwynne he played his part in a fair and good fight. He took a lot of punishment but that eventually told in Round 6. Tennyson caught his opponent with a right hander which forced Gwynne to take a knee. He survived the 10 second count by the referee but he was met with a barrage of punches soon later which forced the referee to step in and halt proceedings.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the fight Tennyson said,  Gavin is a real tough lad and I got him out of there early,” Tennyson said. “I’m happy with my performance. Shame there couldn’t be a crowd here to back it up”. He continued and said his trainer Tony Dunlop said to him “to be patient, to move around and pick his shots.

Tennyson said in a tweet after the fight:

When you put your heart and soul into something you love this is what it means to me!! Love what i do and love everyone of use legends who have been supporting me throughout!! #TeamTennyson!❤ pic.twitter.com/JbmtTkzkS8

Eddie Hearne, Tennyson’s promoter suggested that bigger fights were to come for the Lisburn man. Hearne said, that fights with Jorge Linares and Francesco Patera are been looked at. He said, “They are the fights we want to see,”.
