The Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure Senior Football Championship semi-final between 2020 Donegal finalists Naomh Conaill and Kilcar will be shown live on TG4 on Sunday, October 24.

The game is scheduled to be played at 1:45 pm and will be shown on GAA Beo as the first of a double-header, with coverage starting at 1:30 pm.

The Limerick Senior Hurling Championship will be shown after the match-up between Naomh Conaill and Kilcar.

Both sides have progressed to the final four of the 2021 instalment of the Senior A Football Championship after wins over Gaoth Dobhair and Sean Mac Cumhaill respectively.

Jeaic Mac Ceallabhuí’s first-half goal was enough to see Naomh Conaill past their opponents on Sunday.

Kilcar, on the other hand, put on a dominant display to reach the semi-finals, thrashing Sean Mac Cumhaill by 17 points and holding them to only two.

The pair played the 2020 final earlier this year in August but a replay was ordered after it was found that winners Naomh Conaill had used an extra substitute in extra-time on their way to a county championship win via penalties, following a Kilcar appeal about the matter.

Rule 2.4(ii) of the GAA’s official guide says that only three substitutes can be used in extra-time – Kilcar claimed that their opponents used four in this period and Donegal GAA’s Competitions Controls Committee found this to be true.

In correspondence to the clubs, Donegal explained the decision-making process: “Naomh Conaill CLG made four substitutions in the course of the extra time played and as a result committed a breach of Rule 2.3(ii) Rules of Specification – The Players – Official Guide 2021 Part 2.

“That the breach of the said Rule 2.3(ii) Rules of Specification – The Players – Official Guide 2021 Part 2 by Naomh Conaill CLG was an Infraction rendering Naomh Conaill CLG liable to the penalties set out in Rule 6.44(b)(ii) Official Guide 2021 Part 1, including but not limited to the award of the game to the Objector.”

The Donegal and Tyrone minors face off on Friday night in this year’s instalment of the Ulster Minor Football Championship Final at Brewster Park.

Both sides are looking for their first provincial crown at minor level in several years after wins from Monaghan and Derry in recent years.

Tyrone lead the way on the Ulster Minor roll of honour with 23 Fr Murray Cup’s to their name and will look to add another for the first time since 2012.

Donegal sit on a tally of eight Ulster minor titles in total and have been crowned champions twice in 2014 and 2016 since Tyrone’s last victory.

The counties met in the 2020 Minor Quarter Final which took place in December and saw Tyrone come out on top 0-8 to 0-7 in a tight battle in Ballybofey.

Five players who played in that fixture will take to the field for the minor sides once again on Friday night.

Michael Rafferty, Callan Kelly, Ruairi McHugh and Cormac Devlin represent Tyrone again, while Luke McGlynn remains for Donegal.

Tyrone have made it look easy on their way to Brewster Park after impressive wins over Down and Fermanagh.

Gerard Donnelly’s side scored 9-37 while only conceding 1-15 in their two previous games and will enter Brewster Park as a well-oiled machine.

Captain Cormac Devlin has led the attack in both games with 0-13 to his name including six frees.

Ronan Cassidy had a magnificent 2-3 performance against the Ernesiders in the semi-final while Gavin Potter and Eoin McElholm round out a strong attacking unit.

Half-back Shea O’Hare adds an extra attacking threat with his runs from deep and Ruairi McHugh has been a huge presence in midfield.

Donegal have had to play an extra game on the way to the final – a preliminary round victory over Antrim – and have had closer games.

Low-scoring battles against Monaghan and Armagh have seen the side into the Ulster minor final after a one-sided victory against Antrim.

McGlynn, captain and corner forward, has been their main threat in the final third with the responsibility of placed balls being his.

Donegal have had a good spread of points but there has been no clear standout in attack so far this season.

Sean Ward and Conor Reid provide a strong and dynamic midfield foundation for the side and the defence has held all opponents to no more than ten points each.

Tyrone’s blitzkrieg will go head-to-head against the hardworking Donegal side coached by Luke Barrett.

The winner will progress to the All-Ireland semi-finals where they will play Cork on Saturday, August 21st.

Tabharfaidh Bréachmhaigh aghaidh ar an gCnoc Mór i gCluiche Ceannais Sinsear Peile Mhaigh Eo an deireadh seachtaine seo i bPáirc Mhic Éil Elverys i gCaisleán an Bharraigh.

Tá ocht gcraobh buaite ag muintir an Chnoic Mhóir agus gan craobh an chontae tógtha oiread is uair amháin ag foireann Bhréachmhaí fós.

Chaill Bréachmhaigh an cluiche ceannais trí huaire ó 2013. Bhí an lámh in uachtar ag Na Mistéalaigh, Caisleán an Bharraigh, orthu, 1-11 v 0-8, an bhliain úd. Dhá bhliain níos déanaí, bhí na foirne céanna sa chluiche ceannais agus theip orthu in athuair, ach le níos mó le spáráil ag na Mistéalaigh an t-am sin, 4-11 i gcoinne 0-9. An uair dheireanach a shroich foireann Bhréachmhaí an cluiche cinniúnach i 2018, bhí Baile an Tobair beagán chun cinn orthu ag an deireadh, agus gan ach aon phointe amháin idir na foirne, 0-12 v 1-08.

Bhí an lá leis an gCnoc Mór trí huaire sna 1990aidí nuair a bhuadar Corn Phádraig Uí Mhoicléir sna blianta 1992, 1996 agus 1997. Shroicheadar an cluiche ceannais arís i 2016, ach ba thánaistigh iad an bhliain úd.

I mbabhta a trí de chomórtas na bliana seo, tháinig Bréachmhaigh as Grúpa 4, áit ina raibh Cathair na Mart, Na Mistéalaigh Caisleán an Bharraigh is Baile Chathail. Bhuaigh Bréachmhaigh ar Chathair na Mart coicís ó shin, agus dhá chúilín le spáráil acu (0-15 v 0-13).

Cill tSéine, Clár Chlainne Mhuiris agus Na Stiofánaigh Bhéil an Átha a bhí i nGrúpa 3 leis an gCnoc Mór. Ceithre chúilín a bhí eatarthu nuair a chas An Cnoc Mór (0-17) ar Stiofánaigh Bhéal an Átha (0-13) an lá faoi dheireadh chun cáiliú do chluiche ceannais an chontae.

Tá muintir Bhréachmhaí ag fanacht le fada an lá chun an chraobh seo a thabhairt leo. An mbeidís in ann an t-éacht a dhéanamh an deireadh seachtaine beag seo? Feicfimid Dé Domhnaigh.

Beidh an cluiche beo ar TG4, ag tosú ar 3.35pm.

With the majority of sports activity still currently suspended due to the coronavirus there is not much live sport on. Check out my 5 sports matches to watch this weekend.

World Cup Gold – Friday, TG4, 7.30pm – World Cup Gold on TG4 will bring us to the 1986 soccer world cup in Mexico. France played Brazil in the quarter-final in what is certainly one of greatest games in history. The likes of players on show include Michel Platini and Zico. Cracker of a game !

Cluichi Na Bliana – Saturday, TG4, 11.05am – Monaghan take on Kerry  super 8’s. The game takes place at Clones. It was a cracking game with players like David Clifford, Sean O’Shea and Paul Murphy on show for the Kingdom. Monaghan with the likes of McManus, Rory Beggan and Karl O’Connell.

Rugbai Gold – Saturday, TG4, 7.15pm – Rugbai Gold will show the meeting between Connacht and Toulouse at the Stade Ernest Wallon from the 2012 Heineken Cup. It was a big game, considering Toulouse were unbeaten at home in the tournament for five years. Connacht were looking for an upset? Did they do it?

All-Ireland Gold – Sunday, TG4, 1.55pm – The first game on Sunday is the U21 All-Ireland Hurling semi-final between Galway and Clare from 2009. Extra time was required in this game. Could Joe Canning steer his side to victory?

All-Ireland Gold – Sunday, TG4, 3.40pm – Ah the perfect way to top off your weekend. The 2005 All-Ireland Football Final between Tyrone and Kerry. Mickey Hartes team were looking from 2 title in three seasons. But Jack O’Connor’s were the reigning champions and looking for back to back titles. Something had to give.
