Most Improved, who has been the subject of a major ante post gamble for the Qipco 2000 Guineas, will miss his intended prep race, the Craven Stakes, at Newmarket on Thursday afternoon.
The Brian Meehan trained son of Lawman had been expected to go off a warm favourite for the established Guineas trial over the mile trip, however the colt was found to be slightly lame on Thursday morning.
Announcing the news on his website, Meehan said “Obviously at this stage his participation (in the 2000 Guineas) is open to question. We will closely monitor the situation in conjunction with the vets and as soon as they have cleared him we will keep everyone informed.”
The Richard Hannon trained Trumpet Major has replaced Most Improved as the general 4/1 favourite for the Cravenm, which is due off at 4.10.
