Injury worries increase for Down Manager

Down Manager James McCartan is becoming increasingly worried over his growing list of injured players.

Anto McCardle is the latest player to pick up an injury and be a doubt for McCartan’s opening round in the Ulster Championship against Fermanagh. The Burren star picked up a groin injury while playing for his club recently and joins the long list of Down players who are undergoing treatment at the moment. McCardle is the fifth down player to have picked up an injury as of late and he joins Danny Hughes, Declan Rooney, Dan Gordon and Damian Rafferty on the sidelines.

“We have had Declan Rooney and Damien Rafferty out for some time and now with Danny Hughes and Dan Gordon along with Anto on the injured list this means that we have a considerable raft of experience on the sidelines,” McCartan told the Belfast Telegraph.
