Arsene Wenger has done it yet again in the transfer market, signing a player with proven quality, a proven goal record and a hunger for success all for a very reasonable price. Lukas Podolski is set to move to Arsenal in the summer for a fee rumoured to be in the region of £11million.
Podolski has ninety-five caps for Germany and has played exceptionally well at FC Koln which is why he has been attracting such high profile interest. Podolski has always performed well for Germany and always shone at Koln however during his three-year spell at FC Bayern Munich things were not so successful.
The twenty-six year old attacker appears to have put that uncomfortable time behind him and is reinvigorated in his form at club level. Podolski has already stated his determination and desire to bring trophies back to Arsenal and if Wenger can get Robin Van Persie to sign a new deal the Gunners attack could look a very potent threat next season.
Lukas Podolski’s international experience will prove a vital asset next season and should ease the burden on PFA Player of the year, Van Persie. If they can combine well and Podolski can get half as many goals as RVP has this season then Arsenal could be back challenging for honours again.
