Leinster and Ireland number full back Rob Kearney has been voted the IRUPA Players’ Player of the Year.
The award, in its tenth year, was handed over at a ceremony at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin on Wednesday night. Kearney was also awarded the Supporters Player of the Year for 2012.
Having picked up the award, the Louth native spoke of his delight at receiving the award: “This is the first time I’ve received this award which has been voted for by my peers and I am overwhelmed to be honest that the other players in Ireland have chosen me.”
Twice nominated Craig Gilroy of Ulster picked up the IRUPA Try of the Year for his amazing effort against Munster in the Heineken Cup.
Leinster’s Kevin McLaughlin collected the IRUPA Unsung Hero Award, voted for the first time by the public online.
John Hayes was voted into the Hall of Fame.
The winner of each award was presented with a titanium steel watch from Fields Jewelers.
