Dessie Dolan has confirmed that he has not retired from inter county football.
The Garrycastle man declined an offer to join the Westmeath inter county set up ahead of the Leinster championship. Having turned 33 recently, it was thought that the 2004 All Star would not play for the Lake County again.
Dolan has confirmed to the Irish Sun however that he may return to action later in the summer. The midlanders make their Leinster Championship bow against Louth in Navan on Sunday.
“I’m a bit like Elvis, I’m just having a break at the minute,” he said. “I felt I couldn’t give the commitment to go again after basically 40 months in-a-row. And I felt the fact that the lads survived Division 2, they did quite well and there is a lot of good talent coming through. I felt I needed to take a break myself. It might change in a couple of weeks though and I might get my appetite back.”
