Sarsfields to honour Dermot Earley (Snr)

This Saturday, May 26 Sarsfields GAA Club in Kildare is honouring one of its – and the GAA’s – greatest players, the late Dermot Earley Snr.

The club has decided to rename its Saturday morning football academy the ‘Dermot Earley Academy’.

The event is taking place at 2pm at the club grounds and the President of the GAA, Liam O’Neill will be in attendance along with the Minister for Tourism and Sport Leo Varadkar.

Also in attendance will be the Kildare senior football team and several other sporting and political figures, and of course Dermot Earley Jnr. and all the Earley family.

Sarsfields has over a century of history behind it. In 1897, the club was founded with its headquarters in Roseberry and registered as ” Sons of Sarsfield Gaelic Football Club”. The green jersey with the Sash was the chosen club colours and has continued as such to the present day.
