The Armagh starting XV has been named for the Ulster SFC Championship opener against Tyrone at the Morgan Athletic Grounds on Sunday (throw in 4pm).
Speaking in advance of the start of the Ulster Football Championship; Armagh’s Malachy Macklin said: “The Ulster Championship is very difficult and unpredictable to win. It’s not like Munster where you know that either Cork or Kerry will win. The team that looks further than the next game is the team that gets beaten. We’re looking to Tyrone on 10th June and no further.
“Tyrone are a very difficult opponent but hopefully with home advantage we can give a right good game of it. It’s a game we know we can win. If we play to our abilities we believe we can win, but I’m sure Tyrone will be feeling exactly the same way, that if they play to the best of their abilities then they’re capable of winning.
“Micky Harte (Tyrone’s manager) would have been, like a lot of managers in the league, trying to experiment with different players and they’ve done that. They’ve a lot of new players available to them now having bred them in for the league, which is similar to us. Probably similar to ourselves, they are in a period of transition. While it was disappointing to get relegated from division 1 of the league, we took a lot of positives out of it for the championship.
“We’ve a lot of new players coming through now. Guys like Calum Raferty, Jamie Clarke, Declan McKenna and a lot of other young players who it was good to give experience to during the league and prepare them for championship.
“While any player would love to win an Ulster or All Ireland, it would be very stupid of us to look past Tyrone on the 10th of June.
