It has been reported that the well publicised release clause, written into Demba Ba’s Newcastle contract is due to expire at the end of this month. The clause was previously thought to mean that a bid of around £7 million would be enough to take the Senegalese striker from the Sports Direct Arena.
Under the terms of the deal, Magpie’s can up their asking price to nearer £15 million in August. Although manager and Ba have thrown cold water onto any exit speculation, Turkish giants Galatasaray remain extremely interested in the 27 year old striker and are currently favourites to sign Ba should he leave.
Ba enjoyed an extremely productive season with Newcastle after moving from West Ham last summer following their relegation, scoring 16 times in 34 appearances. Several clubs have been showing interest in the forward after such a good season with PSG, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham thought to be weighing up possible transfers.
