Limerick draft in Collins

LIMERICK manager Maurice Horan has made just one change for this weekend’s crucial All-Ireland qualifier clash with Kildare at O’Moore Park in Portlaoise.

The Treaty boss has drafted in captain Ger Collins into the side at left corner forward following his recovery from injury, with the Monaleen star named at the expense of James O’Meara.

Speaking to the Limerick Leader in recent days, Horan spoke of the similarities of his team’s opposition with 2010 All-Ireland winners Cork.

“I suppose the team that they would be most like would be Cork in terms of their physicality and the way that they can play with patience and also let the ball in directly to their attack,” Horan added.

“They would be very similar to Cork and Limerick always play good against Cork.”

Limerick captain Ger Collins spoke to Sports News Ireland ahead of tomorrow’s encounter and admitted that his side were excited ahead of the game.

“Everyone is looking forward to playing a top team like Kildare,” he added. “Injuries have healed up so we thankfully have a full squad to pick from.”

Throw-in at O’Moore Park is at 7pm.

Limerick (vs Kildare): B Scanlon; A Lane, J McCarthy, L O’Dwyer; J Riordan, S Lucey, P Ranahan; J Donovan, S Buckley; E O’Connor, S Kelly, P Browne; G Collins (capt), S O’Carroll, I Ryan.
