Irish Olympic 2012 profile: Ava Hutchinson
Athletics – Women’s Marathon
Back in January of this year, Eva ran a time of 2:35:33 in the Houston marathon, a whole minute and a half inside the necessary Olympic ‘A’ standard time, in only her second ever marathon. She previously ran last year’s Dublin marathon but missed out on qualification for the Olympics.
Aged 29, she is the current Irish half marathon and cross country title holder and is the fastest Irish woman in her category at the Olympics.
Born in Blackrock, Co. Dublin, she was raised in Hampshire. The Dundrum South Dublin runner was educated at Butler University, Indiana and has worked and trained in Loughborough for the past four years.
Eva shouldn’t think further than achieving a personal best at the Olympics as the field contains experienced marathon runners that are a cut above the rest.
