Brendan Maher breaks ankle

Tipperary hurlers have suffered a major setback with the news that 2010 young hurler of the year Brendan Maher has sustained a suspected broken ankle.

Although the full extent of the injury is as yet unclear, the player is due to under scans on Tuesday and to establish the exact damage. It is understood that the player fractured a bone in a domestic accident.

The 22-year-old looks likely to be out of action for up to three months, with the Munster final on July 10th a possible target for a return.
