Sligo Rovers have missed the opportunity to move four points clear atop the Airtricity League Premier Division.
Defending champions Shamrock Rovers came back from a goal down to snatch a one-all draw against the Bit O’ Red at Tallaght Stadium.
A fantastic 30 yard piledriver from Mark Quigley 13 minutes before half-time put Sligo on course to extend their lead at the top of the table, but Ronan Finn grabbed an equaliser for the Hoops five minutes into the second half.
Sligo Rovers are now two points clear of Drogheda (with the Connacht side having a game in hand) at the top of the table while the defending league champions are third, seven points behind Sligo.
The other Airtricity League fixture of the night saw St. Patrick’s Athletic beat Cork City on leeside by a goal to nil at Turners Cross.
Christy Fagan’s 68th minute goal was enough for Pats to come away with all three points.
This was the Rebel Army’s first defeat in 13 games while St. Pat’s have moved to within one point of local rivals Shamrock Rovers, though the Inchicore side have two games in hand.
