Donegal v Antrim Sunday, 2.30 Ballyshannon.
Donegal have been the form side in Division Two of the Allianz National Football League this season and look set for a return to the top flight in 2012. On Sunday they welcome Antrim to Ballyshannon in the penultimate round of this season’s campaign.
The visitors have been poor this season and after being promoted last season, they look set to go straight back down. It is a shock remainder to the Saffrons that the higher tier is much more competitive and they will need to improve a great deal to hold their place in this division in future campaigns.
For Donegal, the new season has gone much better than expected. With Jim McGuiness the new man at the helm, it was expected that the league would be used to build a side but they have really hit the ground running and proved well capable of holding their own against the more experienced sides. A victory over Derry in the last round was particularly impressive.
With Antrim in desperate need of points this weekend, they could not have asked for a tougher assignment than a visit to the league leaders. It looks a bridge too far for the Saffrons and the vote has to go to the hosts to make it yet another win in this section.
