Leinster star Isa Nacewa will not play for Fiji at this year’s Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. The player had been asked to line out for the side but after careful consideration he has decided to stay in Ireland.
Nacewa was named Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Players’ Player of the Year this season, after helping Leinster win the Heineken Cup. His participation at the World Cup had been up in the air but he has decided to put his family first.
“My pregnant wife and my twin girls are my number one priority at the moment, however I wish the Fiji team and management all the best in the exciting year that follows and especially at the Rugby World Cup,” he wrote on the Fiji Rugby Union website.
“Fiji has a competitive team at the World Cup and one that will go a long way.”
