According to reports in the Sunday Daily Star Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is lining up a season long loan move for Darron Gibson
The Republic of Ireland international is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and saw a proposed move to Premier League rivals Sunderland fall through, allegedly due to personal demands.
The 23 year old has struggled to hold down a first team place at United and there is a real possibility that this deal come happen.
Latics boss Roberto Martinez has a good relationship with United and took Tom Cleverley for in a similar deal last season. The England under -21 thrived under the guidance of the Spanish coach last season and has now returned to United.
Martinez is looking for a competitive midfielder to lead his team and believes Gibson might be that man. A loan move might also suit Gibson who ideally would like to stay and prove himself with United but knows that he needs to play regularly.
