Kildare legend Johnny Doyle will create a piece of GAA history this weekend, if he manages to get on the scoresheet during his sides qualifier clash with Derry.
Should the Allenwood man succeed in adding to his impressive career tally, it would be the 50th consecutive championship match that he has scored in. Doyle made his debut against Louth in the 2000 Leinster championship quarter-final and has not missed any of the 54 games Kildare have played since then.
This season,Doyle has hit 2-15 for Kildare and is the sides top scorer in the championship. He needs just a single score this weekend to reach the incredible target of fifty in a row. As his team’s placed ball expert, it must be long odds on that the Allenwood will create history this Saturday afternoon.
