Cavan’s Lisa Maguire extended her lead heading into the final day of the European Women’s Amateur championship at Noordwijkse Golf Club in the Netherlands.
As a result of Friday’s action the field has now been reduced from 144 to the leading 60 golfers.
Sixteen years old, Lisa, the older of the Maguire twins by 15 minutes, registered a one over ,73, dropping back to two-under for the tournament , but remains the only player in the event to break par.
The Slieve Russell golfer enjoys a four shot lead over her nearest challenger, 17 years old , Perrine Delacour from France, who registered a 74 on Friday with Denmark’s Charlotte Kring Lorentzen (75) a shot behind the French youngster, on three-over.
Lisa’s twin sister Leona had an impressive third round of 72 bringing her to within six strokes of Lisa and thus allowing her a chance of a podium finish on Saturday.
Royal Portrush golfer Stephanie Meadow recorded a 75 so is eighth on eight over and like Leona Maguire is hoping for a strong finish and a top six place by close of play Saturday.
