Blackburn boss Steve Kean is closing in on a swoop for Leicester defender Sol Bamba.
The Scot has been looking for defensive re-enforcements following the sale of Phil Jones to Manchester United and has identified 26 year old Ivory Coast international as the man to partner Chris Samba at the back.
Samba has impressed in the Championship since making the move from Scottish side Hibernians last January.
Speaking to Sky Sports Kean said of the potential move “We are quite close. An offer has been put in and we are trying to progress that although it is slow. The good news is it hasn’t been rejected so we are moving forward.”
Kean added: “Even if Chris Samba had been playing and fit we have always been searching for a centre-back because we haven’t replaced Phil Jones yet and we want to make sure we have good competition for places.
“We certainly need another centre-back.”
