South Korean striker Park Chu-young looks set to join Arsenal for £10m, with the 26 year-old due to undergo a medical in the next 24 hours.
French champions Lille were convinced they had all but wrapped up a deal for the South Korean captain. Park had completed the first part of a medical with the club but failed to show for the second part after Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger stepped up his pursuit.
Unimpressed Lille president Michel Seydoux told BBC Sport: “We haven’t had a telephone call, nothing. From what we understand he could be at Arsenal.”
Wenger is under pressure to strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes at the end of the month, having lost star players Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri to Barcelona and Manchester City in recent weeks.
